Leek Wooton

Visiting Warwick Castle is something every lover of medieval history should do at least a dozen times in their lives. Leave an hour, however, to visit the village of Leek Wooton about two and a half miles to the north as well. Besides the excellent pub fare at the Anchor Inn (Pan-Seared Pidgeon Breast, Cured-Smoked Bacon and a Red Wine Jus for seven quid as a starter!), take the time to stroll south of the village to Blacklow Hill. 

Blacklow Hill was the site of the execution/murder (you decide) of the Earl of Cornwall, Piers Gaveston. This act was carried out by two Welshmen under the order of the Earl of Lancaster.
